Logistics centre - ExpansionAs a provider of complete technology solutions, ALSO's comprehensive ecosystem includes cloud-based digital platforms and as-a-service offerings, complemented by a broad portfolio of professional IT services and solutions. ALSO operates the Swiss logistics centre at its Emmen site and offers customised special logistics in the B2B and B2C sectors, from ordering to finishing and delivery to the customer.
Extension
The system created in 2009 was expanded in 23/24 by- An automated carton sealing system
- A document printer
- Automatic addressing
In order to fulfil the new requirements and integrate the extension into the existing order picking system, the existing system had to be converted. The core elements are two lifts from the order picking area to the upper floor as well as a wall opening for the new systems with the carton closing system. Among other things, conveyor elements for the containers were attached to the ceiling.
The challenge
Our conveyor technology covers 4 floors and helps ALSO to fulfil the high customer requirements in terms of SLA.The biggest challenges during the installation were:
- Implement the extensions and conversions during ongoing operations
- Couple the existing and new systems together
- Integrate the extension into the existing control system
The work during ongoing operations demanded a high degree of flexibility from Gilgen. The collaboration was very pleasant and based on partnership.
