Modernisierung Haus unter den Linden
Die Staatsbibliothek „Unter den Linden“ im Berliner Stadtteil Mitte gehört zu den berühmtesten Bibliotheksgebäuden weltweit. Errichtet wurde die Bibliothek in den Jahren 1903–1914. Bis 1945 beheimatete sie neben der Preußischen Staatsbibliothek und der Universitätsbibliothek auch die Preußische Akademie der Wissenschaften. Die Bibliothek besitzt im grossen Hauptbestand 12 Millionen Bücher.
Requirements
Von 2005 bis 2020 wurde die Staatsbibliothek „Unter den Linden“ umfangreich saniert und mit Neubauten sowie einem neuen Allgemeinen Lesesaal ergänzt. Der Altbau des Gebäudes wurde u.a. mit neuen Anlagen für IT, einer Buchtransportanlage und einer Klimatisierung von Magazinen ausgestattet. Damit wird die Bibliothek zu einem Ort für Information und Kommunikation.
Logistics solution
Die Buchtransportanlage wurde im Rahmen einer Arbeitsgemeinschaft mit Beteiligung von Gilgen Logistics realisiert. Das System transportiert die Bücher über rund 1,5 Kilometer von insgesamt 80 Sende- und Empfangsstationen, überwiegend in den Magazinbereichen u.a. in vier Lesesäle. Im Einsatz sind hierbei 540 Transportbehälter die über 18 Linear- und 4 Umlaufaufzügen im gesamten Alt- und Neubau laufen. Durch eine webbasierte Visualisierung können die Mitarbeiter die Transporte stets überwachen. Mit dieser Lösung wird das Personal von anstrengenden und zeitaufwändigen Transportaufgaben entlastet und kann sich besser auf bibliothekarische Aufgaben konzentrieren.
Nach Rückverlagerung und Zusammenführung ausgelagerter Bestände wurde das Gebäude am 25. Januar 2021 feierlich in einer digitalen Zeremonie wiedereröffnet.
