A Hearty Thank-you for Your Trustful Cooperation


As the year draws to a close, it is time to look back on what has been achieved. For Gilgen Logistics, it was an exciting and instructive year full of work. Despite the difficult economic situation in the machinery industry at present, we are very proud that we were again able to report several major orders in 2019. Current projects are also making good progress in their implementation phases.


Operations have commenced at Europe’s largest logistics centre, which we were commissioned for as general contractor. The fully automatic high-bay storage facility is designed for over 50,000 pallet spaces. Other interesting major projects are also in the implementation phase, such as for Genossenschaft Migros Aare, a cooperative in Schönbühl, where we have the privilege of supplying conveyor technology for containers and pallets required in returns logistics.


These include F. Hoffmann-La Roche AG, for which we were commissioned with a container conveyor system featuring three small goods lifts with conveying heights of up to 60 m, as well as Schweizerische Post, the Swiss postal service, for which we were commissioned with conveyor technology for two systems for filling collecting containers and for two buffer systems.


In the area of storage technology, we are involved in various high-bay storage facilities, such as for a foodstuffs producer, where we are expanding the warehouse by 26,000 pallet spaces. Also shortly before the start of implementation are high-bay storage facilities for Heiniger Kabel AG in Avenches with space for over 10,000 pallets and a high-bay storage facility for 7,200 pallet spaces for Mayr Antriebstechnik AG in Mauerstetten in the Ostallgäu region.


Loading Technology’s market segment was again able to report many interesting orders. Prodega/Transgourmet Kriens and Hinwil, Tiefenau Berne Hospital, CAM Centre artisanal des Moulières, Satigny and the Biel-Solothurn Municipal Theatre are just a few of the renowned projects where these robust lifting platforms, adaptable ramps and freight lifts will be in daily use. In each of our 8,900 service deployments in 2019, our aim was to offer you service tailored to your needs.

 

Information about the new structure for the future


From 1 January 2020 we will be optimising Gilgen Logistics’ organisation and adapting the management board accordingly. At the same time, we have taken a further step forward in implementing our succession arrangements. In the new structure, management will be adjusted from five to three division heads. The management board is now made up of René Holzer, CEO, Daniel Gilgen, Director of System Business, Peter Nussbaum, Director of Finance and Adrian Kocher, Director of Customer Service and Loading Technology.


“I’m looking forward to launching our forthcoming development steps together with my current and new management board colleagues. Over the past few months, all three have shown that they can use their expertise, experience and commitment to give decisive new impetus to Gilgen Logistics’ future. Daniel Gilgen, a third-generation member of the owning family, comes from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH), is already in charge of a number of major projects and is to take over from me as CEO from 2022”, says CEO René Holzer about the new composition of the management board.


Rudolf Steffen and Thomas Schütz, two long-standing members of the management board, will take on new tasks in the company. In future, Rudolf Steffen will be responsible for Project Management and Thomas Schütz for Purchasing.
