Automatic book transportation

In our information-based society libraries are of ever-growing importance for the purposes of research and education. The technology at the librarian?s disposal has moved on from the simple book-storage of the past to multimedia libraries.

The logistics systems used to handle books, and the demands placed on them, have likewise changed with the times. A modern book-conveying system operates in conjunction with databases, book-recognition systems, management systems, and systems designed to handle returns and sort stocks.

These changed logistic requirements require innovative conceptions by appropriate planning and realization. The automatic conveying systems of Gilgen Logistics enable and support the automatic in-house book transport.

Modular elements, such as horizontal and vertical conveyors, allow for the integrated operation of the various parts of the building, such as the stacks, reading rooms and lending desk. Books / Mediums are conveyed in plastic containers with a maximum net load of 30 kilos each.
