Conveying and storage systems for roll containers

Many food companies use roll containers or cages for the delivery of items such as dairy and bakery products, fruit, vegetables or dry goods. Empty containers are kept in an interim-storage area until needed for order picking. During order picking, the roll containers are taken from the interim-storage area and sent to various parts of the plant for loading. Full containers are then transported to the distribution zone.

A roll container conveying system keeps track of the number of empty containers available for use. Monitored conveying of the full roll containers increases efficiency, thereby saving costs and increasing availability for dispatch.
